Education in Dayton and the Surrounding Areas

From pre-school to post-secondary degrees, the educational institutions within the Dayton region provide excellence and diversity.

Some 40 public school systems provide quality education opportunities within eight counties.  A strong Catholic system, a Jewish academy, and schools operated by Baptist, Seventh-Day Adventist, Church of God and nondenominational groups round out educational offerings.

Higher Education and Training

The diversity and flexibility of the educational infrastructure offers programs of study to meet personal and business requirements.

Twenty six institutions of higher education within a 90-mile radius of Dayton provide a ready source of highly qualified, professional employees and provide educational programs and interdisciplinary research programs to support area businesses.

In addition to traditional training and continuing education, specialized training and consulting services designed to meet company specifications are offered including start-up training programs for newly located businesses.  To meet the needs of existing businesses, programs include technical training to upgrade employees’ skills and integrate operations such as when technology shifts occur.  Technical and financial assistance is available through the Ohio Industrial Training Program for companies meeting the eligibility requirements.

Colleges and Universities

There are twenty six institutions of higher learning.  They include law and medical schools and are located within a 35-mile radius of Dayton, offering a wide variety of degrees and continuing education programs.
